The county of Yolo is one of the original California counties.Located in Northern California due west of Sacramento, Yolo county is home to over 200,000 California Citizens. It has been officially called the County of Yolo, it is included in the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area in the Sacramento Valley. The County of Yolo borders Colusa, Sutter, Sacramento, Solano, Napa and Lake counties.
To the west Yolo county is separated from Napa county by the Hill Chain of the Coast Mountains. While most of the County of Yolo is dedicated to agriculture, there are 4 cities in the county; Davis, Woodland, West Sacramento and Winters.
Yolo County was officially formulated when California gained statehood in 1850. Yolo county’s eastern border is the Rio Sacramento river.
The city of Davis is Yolo County’s most popular city which is located off the I-80 and SR 113. Davis is also home to the University of Davis. The University of California Davis, or UC Davis, has the third largest enrollment in the California UC system. UC Davis is well known for its law school, research, medical program and agricultural programs.
While education employs the highest number of Yolo County citizens, agriculture is the most profitable industry by sales. Yolo County is 1,021 square miles and is in the rich agricultural regions of the California Central Valley and the Sacramento River Delta. 90% of the California tomato industry is in Yolo County.
The City of Woodland is the county seat and home to Woodland Community College and Cambridge Junior College-Woodland. Woodland is also home to the County of Yolo Superior Court House.
Yolo County is also home to a rare California inland port in the city of West Sacramento, known as the Port of West Sacramento. The Port of West Sacramento is a “Non-Container” port. The port focuses on agricultural cargo and heavy machinery.
Interstate 5, Interstate 80 and Interstate 505 facilitate transportation to and from Sacramento, the east bay area and northern California. State Route 16, State Route 113 and State Route 45 provide transportation access to many of the census-designated places and unincorporated communities such as; Esparto, Monument Hills, Dunnigan, Knights Landing, Madison, Yolo, Clarksburg and Guinda.
The combination of agriculture, port transportation traffic and transportation between the capital and other regions of the state make auto accident probabilities higher and damage potentially more severe. The diversity in employment, between education, health services, industry and other Yolo county employers, create challenges in employment requirements. The diverse population and property ownership options create the need for skilled Estate Planning lawyers. Whatever the legal needs of Yolo County citizens, LAW MART can help.
